Why are some people so obsessed with the real and imagined racial compositions of people living in the nations discussed in the Asia forum? What difference does it make if a Filipino "looks more Chinese"?
Because a lot of people here have nothing to talk about. This would be a better forum if we had more current events posted here from our Asian posters. But, they too, decide to play along deciding which Filipino is better looking, what haplogroups belong to which nation, which Asians are less "Asian looking" etc.
I notice it's mostly driven by folks from the Filipinos. I think that country has some hang-ups about race, favouring European looking people.
Ironically, the most European influenced country in Asia the Spanish and their Mexican counterparts must have injected racial guilt into their national psyche over the last 300 years of colonization. It is also posters from the West who also start 99% of these race based topics, who also come from European derived societies
All of the threads about race from this past week have been started by the same guy, who's not Filipino
But, much of that participation comes from Filipinos, especially if it's a topic related to race in the Philippines. But, The Postman shouldn't be so quick to criticize others, he is just as guilty.
