Shame on them. Once upon a time the British looked down upon their forefathers, and now they're looking down on Filipinos the same way.

If the fillipino community want to celebrate their day In Singapore, they should not do it in orchard road Singapore main area..

So next Americans will be asking to celebrate 4 July and PRCs celebrating 1 Oct in a public event in public area ? What will our aug 9 be then ?!!

In protest , someone have asked for a permet to hold a rally in the same area pinoys are celebrating the day at the same time same timing as a form of "protest " but the request for permit was not approved
Where do you expect them to celebrate it? Orchard Road is a great place to celebrate it. It might also help educated Singaporeans about Filipino culture.

Honestly a lot of things are going wrong with Singapore .. It comes with our govt.. And too much immigrants that locals are becoming the minority rather than the majority

IMO those are just childish reasons, anyway in the Phils, any nationality including Singaporeans can celebrate their Independence day here as long as you have permits! Com'n Phils will never invade your country, no plans at all.

Nope , such celebrations should be a private event and the embassy would be a good place to so it rather than orchard road..

That what I am talking about pinoys acting as if they own our land..

So next time people come we celebrate July 4 & oct 1 too ??? Then people would see no Singapore identity anymore cos we at constantly celebrating for other countries !!

Those really are disadvantages of a smaller nation with smaller population but of course if America and Australia can do it why not Singapore? Nothings impossible. Population is not a hindrance.

There aren't that many Americans or Germans in the Philippines, but restaurants, shopping malls, etc. openly celebrate the Fourth of July and Thanksgiving (the American one), as well as Oktoberfest. No one cares.

How do they act like they own the land? By just being there? If they applied and got approval for the celebrations, they have every right to. If any nation wanted to celebrate their national day here heck I'd welcome it. Singaporeans come from many places, they should embrace that diversity.

A Singaporean actually applied for a permit for a rally to be held at takashimaya at the same time and same day as the Pinoy celebration side by side as a form of protest ..

Well not all Singaporeans are against this celebration , but not all are happy about it either ..

Really more it is part due to the growing anti govt sentiment , the pinoys are just in a way victims to this sentiment by giving Singaporean a way to find reasons , whether strong or lame, to show it..
