Better do a true survey of how many people in HK living in cages.
They do exist in small amount, but I did not read a single ad in Chinese in HK about cages in the past 20 years.
Instead I heard from conversation with foreigners with limited fund looking for opportunities in HK renting beds in large rooms with no windows and air conditioners in summer, the charge is cheaper than in Chungking mansion. Beds without cages. And was told the residents in these rooms were mostly foreigners, was told the owner of the rooms looked down on every people renting beds there, including Asians, white and black people.

This prediction was from 5 years ago. And it did happen; yes, on PPP basis, China alone is bigger than the US (20% bigger), and the entire EU combined. On per capita GDP PPP basis, $18,312. These are numbers in US dollar, and China is working on replacing Dollar world currency role. That can make some difference too.
