Executions just don't do anything good, other than ease the public anger that would've died itself within a month anyway.
Sadly in Taiwan, people still consider death penalty is necessary for the society.

you suggest instead of putting the villains to death, we should allow them to live happily in prison, watch TV, read books, eat regular food and sleep on comfortable bed until they die all at the the expense of taxpayers' money?

They could live miserably in prison, nobody is giving them tv or comfortable beds,we are not as rich as Norwegians.
Being imprisoned to death is a even more painful punishment and a way to keep the criminals from other citizens, jail is not Alice's wonderland,it's hell.

And I really don't get the argument of "taxpayers' money".Seriously, blame the corruptive governments, several criminals living in jail is not gonna cost that much of money, but the stupid and greedy politicians WILL use your money on rotten constructions,or they'll just swallow them.

You are so very right about that!

US Police Have Killed Over 5,000 Civilians Since 9/11

Though the U.S. government does not have a database collecting information about the total number of police involved shootings each year, it’s estimated that between 500 and 1,000 Americans are killed by police officers each year. Since 9/11, about 5,000 Americans have been killed by U.S. police officers, which is almost equivalent to the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in the line of duty in Iraq.

I have little to no tolerance for drugs. It's the scourge of society. But at the same time I would think hard to just execute someone if the only sold a small amount of drugs. Now something big or massive perhaps yes.

Maybe that is why drug is much less of a problem in China than America?

To put it into perspective, China executes 4,000 people a year (fast forward to 1:22 in the vid) while the USA only executes 46 a year .
Their list of capital crime is much different than the U.S. Take for example. Add bribery to capital crime in the USA and let's see the number.

I more or less ascribe to "their country, their laws" unless a specific group of people are targeted with discrimination or actual freedoms or liberties are being withheld.

Who said it isn't an issue in China? Cocaine use and trafficking is huge in China. You just don't read about it.
