I have friends who operate a pretty large english language school in Seoul. They are American-born Koreans but seem to have been quite successful and are planning to return to the states in the next few years to pursue new business opportunities.

I would say unique and off the beaten path would be Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos
I think you can earn a decent wage in Seoul or Tokyo or anywhere in Japan or Singapore.
Vietnam and Cambodia and Laos would offer lower wage but their living expenses are cheap so it worth the bargain

Hi all,

back with an update.

I've been living in Hanoi, Vietnam for the past 3 months. It's awesome here!

Plus, there's always an influx of backpackers so I'm always meeting new people from Europe, Australia, or the US.

So, it seems I'm not allowed to upload any of my own pictures on CD. I can only link pictures from other websites. (If this is not true, please correct me!) Here's what Hanoi and other parts of Vietnam are like:

A typical street in Hanoi.

Yep. Everybody here drives a scooter. This is not exaggerated lol. Although this was probably taken during a rush-hour or something. It's not always THIS busy although it does come close.

There's a beautiful lake in the middle of the city. It's surrounded by a park so you can take a stroll around it. It's close to where I'm staying.

For nightlife, I head over to some of the hostels I know that have bars in them. It's a great way to meet people from all over the world. Tons of Ozzies, Brits, and Germans, with quite a handful of French and a sprinkling of Americans in there as well.

HOWEVER, I've been running low on funds because as cheap as this country is, it's also very easy to spend a lot of money fast.

I went on an organized tour to Halong Bay:

Which cost me hundreds of dollars that, frankly, I shouldn't have spent.

But for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, it was the best week I've had in a long time.

I'm having a ton of fun, but I think my earning potential here is too low, at least in comparison to how much I spend in order to maintain my desired level of fun/excitement.

So I'm currently looking into Taiwan next, because my research shows me that the pay is not only quite high, but that living costs are low enough to let me enjoy my time there.

How are you earning money on such short term stays? Sounds exciting and good luck!

Yeah, city data can only link to images. Use the image button so that we can see it in your post without having to click a link. It's not that big a deal if you already upload your photos to google or Facebook...just point the links there. Or you can use flickr or similar services to host your photos.
