Drunks or bad behaviors in public is very frown upon by the Japanese. Japanese society stress good behavior, courtesy and self-disicipline. Japan is a "shame society". Being unemployed or scoring bad in school tests are shameful, losing battles at world war 2 were extremely shameful too, suicide numbers are therefore very high.

Being a prostitute or pornographic actress, however, is not shameful in modern Japan. There are little protests to stirctly control prostitution and pornography.

Yeah sure I agree, but the situation in Nordics is very different from the one in Japan. The Nordic haters in Europe forums never shut up about how "dangerous" Sweden is nowadays because there are tons of immigrants and there are a lot of ghettos and gangs over there. The actual Nordic citizens would prove that they were just trolls, but still,Nordic countries are definitely not as "safe" as Japan. You should probably avoid walking alone at night in Oslo or Stockholm, but definitely not in Tokyo.

The USA has its fair share of psycho crazies. Ted Bundy, the Unabomber, Gary Ridgway, etc. were all crazy serial killers. Japan, meanwhile, has a very low murder rate and it was obvious the girl who murdered her friend was under extreme psychological stress after the loss of her mother and no one could reach her.

So ... misleading subject. Crime in Japan? For all the statistical data, I might as well reply "What crime in Japan?"
