I've probably heard of it when they teach about majapahit empire, but i have no idea about neighboring countries back then.

As for philippines, majority of the citizen seems to not care about it or even worse dont know it exist. But better than PNG, because that seem to be very ignored, philippines gets more attention in recent years once the asean is more promoted. Nowadays when they think of philippines, they are interested in similar culture shared.

Ohh yeah bollywood movies that's how i get to know india... In 2001 if i recall right, there was a big hit on 1 indian movie which everyone watch including my mother. And also they teach history about the indian and how they spread their influence here.

I can't recall at all anyway.Probably Japan since we love her here,and China since we hate her here.Lmfao.

No offense but I think everyone in the world should know who their neighbor countries are before the age of 10.

The first Asian country I knew about was China. There was a wonderful children's book called "Ping of the Yangtze" that was one of my favorites. This book was published in the 1940's and it is still a classic and still delights children.

I was also aware of Japan.......after the war....my church made a considerable effort to assist in rebuilding Japan and providing relief to the suffering. I remember we took up collections to bring the "Hiroshima Maidens" who were badly burned...to the USA for surgery to relieve their suffering and scarring from the bomb.

he only knew about malaysia back in 2007, he was 17 at that time

actually I already knew about all the asian countries and major cities before age 10 , because I use to look at all the books and maps at the public library.
