Will be siting Cebu in late September this year and am curious about the best restaurants in the city. I have tried googling etc but most of the restaurants don't seem to have websites/menus up online. What's your personal experience been like? I am open to all kinds of cuisine, though if I don't tend to eat much seafood (perhaps a problem in that part of the world I realize).

The best is going to depend a lot on a persons tastes, I have not found any fantastic restaurants in Cebu that I would call my favorite, when compared to a US steak house or US Oriental buffets, so probably the Marco Polo Hotel Buffet (which would be the most expensive) and the Radisson Blu Hotel Buffet (which is almost as good and a lot less expensive) are up at the top on my list of places my wife and I like to eat. YMMV

I am a simple man so I happen to like the food and portions at Emerald Isles Irish Pub in Talamban and Joker Arms on A.S Fortuna Street.

Cebu has tons of restaurants, so it is really going to depend on what type of food you wish to eat and how much you wish to travel around the city or provinces to find places. In Ayala Mall there is the Terraces where most of the restaurants for that mall are and there are many different types of restaurants in there, most of which we have eaten in and are decent, top floor is The Suite Room owned by Casa Verde which we also like and both IMO have decent food at reasonable prices but I cannot honestly say there is even one restaurant we have found in Cebu City that I would rave about and we are there 3 to 4 months a year every year.

When in Cebu I don't stay in the tourist areas. Living in the mountain out in the province is what I do. So I eat lots of regular foods like pancit, vegetables, and fish. But I have been to the Marco Polo. The last time I was in Cebu my family and I stayed at the Marco Polo before I left. The food there was good.

Some of the great restaurants in Cebu I know of:

Casa Verde - serves delicious American food like ribs, pork steaks, tenderloin and beef burgers
Golden Cowrie - serves traditional Filipino recipes
Lantaw Floating Restaurant - known for their amazing views of Cebu City because of their location. One is located on top of a mountain overlooking the city and the other is on a baywalk/sea side facing Cebu harbor.
Larsian Barbecue - huge open-air food court; serves skewered chicken, hotdogs, stuffed fish, shrimp, and chorizo. very affordable and tasty
Zubuchon/CNT - places that serve lechon (roasted suckling pig). Anthony Bourdain said Cebu has the best pig and I wouldn't disagree with him
Sunburst Chicken - serves fried chicken. I love their recipe

you can also visit The Terraces at Ayala Mall where they have a wide selection of different types of restaurants.
