in ASEAN there are Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand for great universities, in North East Asia there are Japan, SoKor, Hong Kong and Taiwan, while we Indonesians, the closest we can get are Singapore, Malaysia and Australia, because the unis in our country are suck... There is this very old university in India called "Nalanda University", it was very famous in Asia or even Europe and Mid East in their old time, and there are some very old Universities in mainland China as well..

I am a Mainland Chinese and I studied at Fudan in Shanghai and HKUST in Hong Kong. Both are very good universities, and universities in HK, Singapore etc are good, modelled after those in the UK or the US, and taught mostly in English, with good professors from both western and asian countries, they basically teach in the same way as they do in the west. The main difference is the students, who don't ask a lot of questions and do not like discussing much. Asian students are more quiet or shy than students in the west, and usually they don't smoke. Mainland Chinese do not like party and drinking, students in HK and Singapore like some party, drink sometimes and enjoy campus life by participating in many activities, and have a tradition of staying up late for activities. It was much more fun for me in HK because of the many opportunities available in the lively city.

Higher education in developed countries of Asia have become common.
But China and India, people with higher education is still not that too much, and those with higher education do not necessarily have bright future despite the few in numbers.

Kyoto University, National University of Singapore, Seoul National University, Tsinghua University, Peking University, The University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Osaka University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and the National University of Taiwan all typically rank in the world's top 50.

As mentioned above, universities in Asia are SUPER competitive and SUPER hard to get into though as there are relatively few of them compared to the population of Asia, so it is no surprise that western universities get a lot of Asian students.

The OP will never come back to educate himself on this, and will probably continue to perpetuate his original myths.

Seoul National University is the top school of South Korea, and on par with any top schools in the west.
One tier below is Yonsei University and Korea University, which are both excellent.

That's right. Koreans do abbreviate it as "SKY", and it's high school students' dream to get into a SKY school.
The irony is that it is extremely difficult to get into these schools and students indeed feel like they are reaching for the sky.
How do you know about this?

Well, I guess we just know some stuff about Korea lol. After all, we are pretty close to each other geographically and geo-politically.
I've also heard that there's some kind of hidden rule between SHL and SKY. Don't know how true is that though.
