It really gives you the feeling that god is going to protect you? False hope and a money maker is what it is.

I'm still wondering why the hood, trunk, and doors are opened up for this.

In the past, the priest had mentioned blessing Filipinos' vehicles. Is it a common tradition?
its a pagan ritual that stretches from south asia to southeast

I asked myself the same question when many many years ago, I accompanied a female Thai friend of mine to a Wat Thai for the Monk's blessing on her new vehicle.
The ritual consisted of writing Thai/Brahmic syllables/letters on the interior (roof) of the vehicle, the dash board and the inside of the hood. This is believed to bring safety and luck to driver and passengers as well.

And that's the reason.

When houses and buildings are being blessed, they sprinkle every corner with holy water. So I'm thinking in the case of a car..

Never got my car blessed. But I dont care if it rains of freezes, I got my plastic Jesus, riding on the dashboard of my car. Through Trials and tribulations, and my travels through the nations. With my plastic Jesus I'll go far.

it depends on the availability of priests and your own time. when i came to America, once i signed the papers, i just drove the car with the intention of having it blessed later but never had the chance even though we go to church twice a month. eight years and 2 cars later, i still had not them blessed hahahah

in hindsight, if they had been blessed, maybe my neighbor might not have kicked and caused a dent on my car, my windshield not broken from a stone coming from a truck im trying to pass, the texting teen ager might not have crashed his car on my car parked along the street and i might not have been ticketed for overspeeding and beating the red light?? who knows??
