You don't grow tropical vegetables in California unless it's in a greenhouse or inside the house all year round. Nowhere in California has a tropical climate, but Florida does
You're Southeast Asian with Hispanic influences. You're not Latino or Hispanic no matter how much you stretch it. Why do internet Filipinos have a hard time accepting this simple truth, I have no idea. Why are some of you ashamed to be Asian?
They are only Asian in geographic location. They are FAR and AWAY more similar to Americans, Hispanics. Hence why they are so different than any other Asian people/culture.
I don't know why they don't spread out too. It seems most immigrant groups to the U.S. In the 20th century have confined themselves to a handful of urban areas. That includes the Chinese. I will give Mexicans credit that they are willing to move to the rest of the country in noticeable numbers.
Aside from California, there are a LOT of Filipinos in Hawaii and Nevada. There are also Filipino communities in Texas, New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Seattle and Florida. You cannot compare Filipinos to Mexicans because Mexicans can get into the US by just crossing the border, while most Filipinos have to get a visa and get on a plane before entering the US.

Filipinos are ASIANS, and there are a LOT of similarities between Filipinos and Malaysians/Indonesians. It is true that Filipinos have a lot of American and Spanish influences, but Filipinos are still Asian in a lot of ways. Filipinos eat rice almost every meal, something in common with its Asian neighbors and not a single American/Hispanic country comes close to it. The farming communities in the Philippines have so much in common with the other Asian countries. Is there any place in the Americas that considers the water buffalo (aka carabao) an indispensable farm animal? The coconut is another thing that is commonly found, eaten, and is also central to the Filipino identity, and which it shares with many Asian countries. By comparison, while coconut plants can be found in parts of the Americas, it is mostly just a commercial crop. Tortillas, pupusas, arepas, etc. are very foreign to Filipinos.

Yes Filipinos are Asian, but they are WAY more similar to Americans and Latinos compared to other Asians.
Btw, have you been to Latin America? They also eat rice nearly every meal. (Chicken, rice, and beans lol)
I am talking about Filipinos personality and disposition. Not what they eat and how they farm.
what you see are the religions and architecture, not the personality and disposition. just because Philippines and Latin America share the same religion and colonial master that they are already the same.
under the language and traditions are asian traditions deeply ingrained in the Filipinos like family, desire to finish studies etc.

So only Asians care about these things? Also, there's no such thing as "Asian culture" or "Asian traditions." Asians are very diverse.

Not every place in Latin America eats rice and beans every meal. And it's always rice AND BEANS in those places where this is common. Such dish is foreign to all Asians. What people eat, how people farm (because most countries in Asia are agricultural after all) are part of one's culture.

There are some culture and traditions that are more common in Asia than they are elsewhere. True, Asians are diverse, and so is Hispanic America.
