It's not odd to go 40 or more years without having had sex. Apparently you have been lucky enough to be attractive to women but those who are unattractive to women don't get those opportunities. It's that simple.

I think men and women might have verrrrrry different views on this.

Women are having just as much sex...if not more sex than man.

Don't let some of these ladies on here fool you.

Yes, some women are.
I just think IN GENERAL, more women are ok with not having sex than men.

The consequences of sex are surely not free, and depending on one's situation and methods, neither is the prelude to sex. That something is "natural" does not render it readily-accessible or common or necessarily even all that laudable. It is presumably natural to kill one's rivals and enemies, yet fortunately in civilized society this rarely happens. What I do however wonder is the extent to which the contract of modern civilization is entirely a good one, whether the freedoms and guarantees and benefits are unalloyed with annoyances and caustic limitations.

Returning to the theme of this thread, Japan is the hyper-modern society... technology and communication, demographic trends, perhaps even values. Japan by its very nature fuses East and West. Is the Japanese present, the global future? Or is Japan an anomaly?

I don't believe that "obsession" with sex differs much between East and West. Both, after all, are human. The difference, generalizing broadly, is that Eastern societies are more communitarian and more paternalistic. They tend to place the interests of the clan/tribe/village and extended-family above those of the individual. They tend to segregate males from females in childhood and adolescence, and then to artificially bring them together in early adulthood.

That web site also linked to a story about "The world's ugliest dog" a useful counterpoint.

The problem with Japan is it's so damn expensive. No wonder people are avoiding relationships and kids. Go to most first world countries you will find the only way the population is growing is because of immigrants. And when those immigrants realize how expensive it is to live there, they don't have enough kids to sustain the population.

So who really suffers in times of population decline, captains of industry, Wall Street types, investors, the middle class, who?
