Hello everyone! Judging by how show Russia in American films, in the US know little about our country, or deliberately distort information. Interesting to know that you know the ordinary people of the USA about Russia and Russians. I will be glad to your responses.

Russia strikes me as a real "bear." It's a powerful country, even if it is declining economically and socially. It's all in the attitude and the Slavic attitude is that, no matter how poor and sickly they are, they will come after you and slap you silly if you even step on the bear's toe. This is why the Russians are so respected by the US, even as it is demonized in the western media.

Russia is the largest country on earth
My fave composer; Dmitri Shostakovich was born there
They love vodka
Lake Baykal is located there
Ruled by Czars like Ivan the terrible
Moscow was considered third Rome
Baba Yaga is part of their folklore
Famous for their Russian hats
Frozen mammoths have been found in Siberia
Sputnik
Seven sisters
Gulags
Mosfilm
Red square
Saint basil's chatedral
Once they ruled Poland and Finland
Ruthless leaders
Intellectuals and chess players
Europe despises them
Europe needs their oil
They sold Alaska to the U.S.
They have a train that reaches Vladivostok
Matrioshkas
KGB
Salyut

Shostakovich! And Rimsky-Korsakov! And Tchaikovsky!
Baikal! The deepest lake in the world, holding 1/5 of the Earth's fresh water. The sacred sea of the Mongols.
Home to a couple hundred or more indigenous nationalities.
Sold Alaska to the US, SUCKERS!! BWAhahahahahaha! (Sorry OP, I couldn't resist. )

Aztecgoddess, you should check out the Russian fort north of San Francisco--Fort Ross, built as a trading post during the days of Russian Alaska. www.fortross.org

Large multicultural country with great amount of natural resources, its also a very misunderstood country.

US films are very US centric and portray mostly stereotypical views of foreign cultures. i don't take them seriously. but i can't speak for the rest of the people in the USA.
