I haven't really seen any comedy shows that weren't Japanese. Maybe some intrepid spirits on here can enlighten this guy on what passes as humor in China, HK, Taiwan, Philippines, and Korea?

Not in Korea. Slap stick humor, making fun of ugly, handicapped, retarded people in comedy shows is totally ok. It's actually very popular. I don't know why you thought it is not okay in Asia... As far as I know, the Japanese appreciate similar type of humor.

Umm... half of Japanese humor is making fun of stupid or fat people. The other half is a combination of slapping , punching, falling down, yelling, and pranks.

Gags from Canada also shows episodes mostly made up of pranks targeting the public.
