Has anyone seen Dumb & Dumber, Mr. Bean, or Beavis & Butthead equivalent(s) in movies or TV shows from asia? I can't think of any(especially Japan, China, Taiwan, and Korea). Would you say that this is in fact related to cultural differences?

I'm now aware of any shows specifically like this, though plenty of shows will include a borderline-retarded doofus as a comedic foil.

I've shown coworkers and my fiance episodes of Beavis and Butt-Head, and they laughed out loud.

I am often shocked at Filipino television. Minority ethnicities are often the target of such humor. And perhaps because of local beauty standards the actors portraying those groups often perform in black face since actual members of the groups are discouraged from show business careers.

Not sure but i do know that most Asians don't like confrontations, discussions are seen as fights by many.

Ok, I know that is NOT true.

Back to the topic, I quite like that Kung Fu movie starring Stephen Chow. Have you seen it? The entire movie is sarcasm of stupidity. I'm sure there are more.

I really like Korean comedy. Especially the slo-mo cameras they do quite a bit. Japanese pranks are some of the best out there anywhere.

I haven't really seen the "love of stupidity" to be of much interest to Asians. Its a ""I feel better about myself after watching that" type of humor. I think its a needed humor in the West as Westerners really enjoy ragging on others, put-downs, and other kinds of 'tearing down someone's spirits.

Asians are collective societies, designed to support each other, and be a group.

To put-down, belittle, and say how stupid people around you, reflects too much on yourself and your group. as those are the people you interact and work with, you need harmonious relations. So, no, "the love of stupidity" isn't a core value of Asian societies at all.
