If you exclude the mountainous north, which is incredibly beautiful, most of Pakistan looks like Mars with a big river running through it. I can't see any reason why someone would either want to live there or travel there. It sounds like its extremely crowded and the climate is very bad. And the people can be less enjoyable than those from other parts of Southern Asia.

Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the impression I have from what I've seen and read about.

The Indus runs through the entire country. What part of Pakistan are you referring to that looks like Mars along the river? The only part that gives me that visual is North of the Himalayas on the Tibetan Plateau, which to me looks very unique and interesting. Enough for me to actually want to visit the Indus valley on the Indian side in the next few months.

Either way, Pakistan is obviously a less desirable country for visitors than India. I guess it's just not as diverse in people and scenery and has a bad (scary?) reputation. But like you said, the Karakoram highway is a thing that people are very much into, and K2 is there.

the worst part of Pakistan is not its supposed desertic sterile terrain but it's social islamist anti-woman, anti-minorities backwardness
