Why did you come to THAILAND? AT what age? and did you face any problems?

I was 57, stayed for over a month, thought it was over-rated. Will probably go back next year, because the cheapest way to Cambodia is to fly to Bangkok and take the train. No plans to stay and do or see anything in Thailand.

No I did not face any problems.

Age 24 - To visit the beaches of Phuket and sight-see and eat in Bangkok - No problems

Subsequently many visits for transiting through northern Thailand on the way to Laos, scuba diving on Ko Tao, transiting through Bangkok and Ko Samui to other destinations in Thailand, Asia and Europe - No problems that I can recall.

It's like New Orleans in summer, but in Bangkok it's like that all year.

In my earlier post, I forgot to say why I went there. It was for bird-watching. Saw 130 species of birds.

One of the birds I like to hear is nok gow wow. They're not very large nor are they especially colorful. I've never clearly seen one, but you can sure hear them a mile away.

from the Netherlands, huge differences.

I let them know that i am an honest person and don't do business that way without making them lose too much "face".

Thai people can get really pissed if you make them lose face, many times when a foreigner gets jumped by multiple Thais (they don't like to fight 1 vs. 1 outside the ring) their excuse is always "he make me lose face".

The thing that irritated me in Thailand is the propensity of people to lie to travelers, apparently just for fun. Like lying about when a bus leaves or where it goes, or where a restaurant or hotel is located. It happened too often there to be simply misunderstandings, and I got tired of it, and I left Thailand because of it, and never really wanted to go back.
