While Thailand is the opposite, and unfathomably the 10th most dangerous country of Planet Earth just arising out of the bordering Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat border south provinces not usually representing the rest of Thailand.

Although, I am very surprised Thailand's average per capita annual income is higher than Vietnam. Isn't seeming that way when observing the entire situation. Vietnamese people have a more comfortable life on average. Hypnotic allure, and welcoming is Vietnam's motto compared to Thailand.
I think it's pretty reasonable to favor Vietnam over Thailand as everyone has their preferences, but I find your reasons quite weird as well.

I don't get what's the big deal of prostitution. If you don't want to have sex with sex workers, then don't make a booty call. It's quite a bizarre reason to not visit a country, isn't it?

And the terrorism thing is weird as well...quite a lot of countries in Europe are quite vulnerable to terrorist attacks at the moment, but Europe is still very safe. The possibility of being killed in a bombing/shooting while you're traveling is about as close to zero as it could get, like lower than being killed in a mass shooting in an American campus or by a plane crash I'd say?

And what makes you think the Vietnamese live a better life than the Thais? To me they are pretty much in the same league in almost every field.

I've been to all the countries listed except Brunei, and Vietnam has few similarities with any of the other countries listed. I don't exactly hate going to Vietnam, but it's far from being my favorite country to go to. I prefer Bangkok than Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon, and I don't look for prostitutes anywhere. Bangkok and all the other places listed just feel developed. The good thing about Vietnam is it is cheap, but overcharging foreigners and other problems abound there. It's even a problem for locals. The taxi companies Vinasun, Mai Linh and recently Uber, thrive in Saigon due to unscrupulous independent taxi drivers (you have nowhere to complain to, at least with the companies, you can call them if there are problems). You hail an UberX, and you are likely to get a tiny old Chevy Spark in Saigon while an UberX in Bangkok is a new Mitsubishi Attrage. With the number of foreigners in Bangkok, foreigners can easily ride the SkyTrain, tourist buses, etc. When I got on a taxi driver in Bangkok who did not speak much English, he resolved the problem of where my hotel was (had the Thai address but hotel was new) by calling other people and confirming to me in his limited English that he now knows where to go. When I got to a Vinasun taxi in Saigon, I gave the driver the hotel address in Vietnamese (complete with the diacritics) and he asked me to read it! I guess I did a good enough job of reading something in Vietnamese (with zero Vietnamese knowledge) and found our way. Happened twice, so they probably hire illiterate cab drivers at times? Ben Thanh Market in Saigon and its surrounding areas seem provincial compared to MBK Center in Bangkok. There's also seems to be a trend in Bangkok wherein food stalls require you to pay with a prepaid contactless food card you purchase at the cashier so food handlers do not need to touch dirty cash at all before serving you food. Saigon is definitely cheaper, but Bangkok is not that much more expensive considering you mostly get something "higher quality".

I am Vietnamese. I do not speak english, i use google translator to speak with you. I hope you understand.
In Vietnam, there are good people and bad people also. It adversely affects the tourists to this place. There are also a lot of bad problems, but I can not say, because I do not know much about English.
I also wish the management policy of the city's better to not worsen the image of my country.
Thank you for your interest in Vietnam.

When I traveled in Taiwan as a backpacker in the 80's, those workers would knock on the door of my room every night, and sometimes even morning...

That's a pretty different situation. Taiwan in the 80's was not a world famous traveling destination, it's not even a world famous traveling destination in 2016, a single Japanese male was probably a very easy target back then.

However, Thailand has been a powerhouse for tourism for decades, millions upon millions of Westerners/other Asians travel to Thailand every year for their beaches, temples, cuisines and whatnot, the possibility of hookers knocking on the door every night is probably as close as being bombed while walking down the streets of Bangkok.

Reason maybe there was a significant wealth gap between Taiwan and Japan in the 1980s. Japanese men are reknown for buying sex in many parts of Asia. It is nothing new, most Asians in Asia have seen Japanese men doing it for the past 50 years.

The gap between Taiwan and Japan have narrowed, not because Taiwan has grown, but only due to Japan's bad economy. And Taiwan still remain a popular and cheap tourist destination for the Japanese, for normal holidaying but not sex tourism.

-Well there aren't that many muslims in Vietnam. Not sure if i can take that Global Terrorism Index serious when Lebanon (Top 10 country with most bombings in the last 40 years) is not even in the top 20.
Its limited to the 3 most Southern provinces (the only provinces out of 76 with Muslim majority) anyway, which is not even 4% of Thailand in land size and easy to avoid.

-Where do you get the idea that Vietnamese live a more comfortable life on average than Thais?
I have extremely deep admiration of Thailand and still a fan, even when I am including just some criticism. Nevertheless indisputable international tourism hotspot. Although, occasionally overrated depending on the exact measure. On the other opposite infinity spectrum, Vietnam is undeniably a golden hidden treasure waiting to have even more discovery of a very amazing Oracle.

Everything to underrate regarding Vietnam to appropriately rated while Thailand is vastly more overrated. Compared to Vietnam, there is excessive sketchy corners of nightlife happening becoming an obstacle to everyday life. Usually more than a vast majority of other countries at a very high frequency. I rather hook up with only ladies I know, and usually slightly fat. More voluptuous, bigger cleavage, and more attractive long term. Overly skinny ladies really disgust me actually. A vast majority of my past 5 girlfriends and 30 hot ladies I made sexual moves with are usually slightly overweight to really fat. Those Thai lady prostitutes must disappoint. Have to go with Malaysia.

Yet with minimal 12.2% of the entire national demographics, and arguably up to maximum 21.5% of the entire nation when including the total metropolitan area.

Tourists seem to omit the entire terrorism danger scale of Thailand. Especially anywhere much more southeast of Phuket region. Bangkok had an attack not long age. I am willing to take the risk. Even more than with Turkey. Usually safe enough especially outside of Thai-Malaysian border. Infinitely more safe around Vietnam. One of the very few countries in this entire World with literally a Global terrorism index scale of zero threats. Even in mainland Europe there are some of them existing(Slovakia, Poland, Slovenia, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland.

Why are people complaining more on average on the Thailand side then?

1.You keep saying that you can't avoid the prostitution in Thailand... Just not true!

2.How can you hook up with only ladies you know? At one point in your life you didn't know them.

3.Not all Prostitutes in Thailand are "overly skinny". If you like them overweight you can find them easily. Malaysian chicks are not much different.

4.Because people in communist countries are not allowed to complain.

Ironically similar to the Nightlife Survey Questionnaire. Yet very alien, and completely different occurrence. Honestly, too much of the extra sketchy ubiquitous encounters of the prostitution factor. Plus, I want those extra hot slightly fat ladies anyways. Is Thai nightlife really having extra luxurious essential nightclub bars with those right visual ambiance displays? Depending on the exact illustration lens, might massively disappoint.

Without any hesitation, I want the nightlife of Vietnam, mainland China(Including Hong Kong/Macau), Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, and even Indonesia.

There is rampant capitalism wreaking havoc with making life way too expensive, even for upper middle class people. Fatal flaws with the system. Socialism or even hints of communist ideologies is able dramatically reduce the economic inequality discrepancy temporary friction.
