No, it was a pan-Asian thing.

Thailand's economy has almost no effect on other countries back in 1997.

You should read more about the details on the causes of Asian economy change and currency devaluation in 1997-1998.

South Korea = a lot of foreign lending? Ironically because of the 97 Asian financial crisis, I thought it propelled them much quicker to where they are now than of it had not occurred.
