IMHO the Asian languages which sound the worst contains a lot of nasal or "nga nga nga" type sounds. Japanese would be my pick of the bunch for best sounding and then Mandarin but only if the "la", "ahh" type endings are removed. For example the word for correct = dui I'd rather that than "dui ah".

"Learn Chinese" sounds more correct than "learn Mandarin" in most contexts. If you say "learn Mandarin", Chinese people tend to think you speak some Chinese dialect and want to learn Mandarin in addition to your dialect.
