It's a sprawling, mostly Marathi speaking city in Maharashtra. What exactly do you want to know about it?

Thanks for the response...Here's the story. I'm being supplied some large equipment components manufactured in India. The company's address is in Pune. Having seen articles regarding the use of children in India factories. I'm concerned that I may be supporting Human rights violations with my money..Lots of my money....

It's mostly brickyards, sweatshops, and such that engage in that sort of thing. It's less likely that a large or medium sized firm that produces manufactured goods in a major city, especially if it's a publically traded company, utilizes child labor. Labor laws would be much harder to skirt in such a case.

Yes I was there a couple years ago. Pune is relatively modern by Indian standards and many international business are based there or have outsource operations there. What is your question?

Universal AET is this company?
Universal AET | Powder/Bulk Solids

So an American company with foreign manufacturing center. Generally it should be safe as US companies don't want the bad publicity that comes with exploiting child labor, plus there is plenty of India adult labor that is willing to work for peanuts. I say "generally" because there are exceptions (i.e. Nike).

The factories and plants I have visited in India have all been professionally run and employ only adults. But that is because they are carefully managed and audited, be it suppliers or directly owned. Why don't you contact the US headquarters to enquire about there standards regarding child labor? As a customer, they should be happy to share the details with you. If you are really concerned you can also make it a provision of your purchasing contract.
