We need to leave the Philippines alone. Scrap the $120 Million we have earmarked for them and close up Subic Bay and Clark AFB removing EVERYTHING we erected including every single bolt/screw. We got our own problems

American expats living in the Philippines (having their life savings syphoned off by those greedy, materialistic and hypergamous people) are in for a very rude awakening under the Duterte regime. Its hard to believe that a country full of people who absolutely LOVE money so much would run to the arms of a pseudo-socialist nation.

I don't know I kind of disagree..why does Israel get so much money from the US compared to the Philippines? The Philippines is a free country and a democracy.

Subic Bay hasn't been a Navy base since 1992.

The US gave up Clark Air Base in 1991 but recently returned.

Israel doesn't get that much money from the US and it is also a free country and democracy.

You can't be serious. Israel gets billions of dollars from the US, per year. I just think the US could help the Philippines a little more. As much as I can't stand Duterte, he is right on that. Not only is the Philippines a free country and democracy, just like Israel. The main religion in the Philippines is Catholicism.

Its 2016, not 1616.
Which sane person still cares about religion.

And the main religion of Israel is Judaism, which is also widely popular in the US. Besides, Israel is far far far more successful as a democracy than the Philippines is.

All countries that have gotten rid of poverty all helped themselves. If the Filipinos think that they can transform into Singapore by simply receiving foreign aids, the Philippines will remain the Philippines.

Yea that does count against it a little. Shame its not more humanist or agnostic. It'd be in much better shape - especially the population growth.
