My thoughts and prayers with the King.

Thai king's condition unstable after hemodialysis treatment -palace | Reuters

Quote:
Thailand's 88-year-old King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the world's longest reigning monarch, is in an unstable condition after receiving hemodialysis treatment, the palace said in a statement late on Sunday.

News about the king's health is closely monitored in Thailand, where King Bhumibol is deeply revered.

The king has been treated for various ailments over the past year at Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital - his home for much of the past year - and was last seen in public on Jan. 11, when he spent several hours visiting his palace in the Thai capital.

Anxiety over the king's health and an eventual succession has formed the backdrop to more than a decade of bitter political divide in Thailand that has included two military coups and often-violent street demonstrations.

Some say he already died 1 or 2 years ago, the military are just afraid for civil unrest.

It's business as usual for the most part. The screws have been tightening on immigration matters for 10 years, yet many claim new crackdowns because they just got caught staying here for years on a Tourist Visa. Everyone eventually dies, and when the beloved King passes, it will be a huge event grabbing the attention of the planet, but not because of chaos; but because of love and respect. Moderator cut: Off topic Mostly a case of the media loves sensationalism. How many thousand times have they shown the white Toyota truck or the Iraqi guy with a 20 year old TV set running down the street. I live in Chiang Mai and would go to BKK today if I wanted to...one of the best large cities on Earth. The earthquake in 2014 was a lot bigger news than the coup, but I guess a soldier always makes a better photo than a hairline crack in concrete.

Bigger news in Chiang Rai maybe but not in the rest of Thailand and the world.
I was 3 months in Bangkok right before the coup, there was a lot of unrest.
Shootings and grenades being thrown in broad daylight.

This happened just a couple kilometers from my apartment...

You are right, everyone eventually dies and the king is a mortal like you and me.

But you are having delusions of grandeur if you think that his death will be a attention grabbing event in the planet. Maybe a huge event in Thailand but outside of the country it might be a paragraph in a newspaper or online, and forgotten the next day.

You guys punish people if they say anything about the king and yet you guys want freedom. Maybe more coups and military rule will be better for you.

All the main news sights here are now reporting the king has died. Regardless you don't have to be in Thailand long before realising how much they love their king.

You're quite right Daniel. He was monarch longer than any other living monarch. He was greatly loved and respected by the people of Thailand.
