I hear a lot of stories about travelers getting diarrhea while having the food in India. I will be traveling to Bangalore, India next week for a few days for a wedding.

I generally have a very strong stomach for spicy foods. What food is typically safe to eat? How about street food?

For eating out, at restaurants unless you are with a local who guarantees it- Generally you want to stay from the water- so that also means no fresh green salads (the leaves will have been washed in contaminated water), no ice cubes in your water etc...

Stick with cooked or fried items- curries, the breads, the dals, etc...

trying to remember from when my family lived in Nepal....

My dad loves to eat (so do I) so we ate at plenty of little local places and had plenty of curry, rice, bread dishes, I even remember enjoying those sweet roti and gulabis in sweet syrup from the street vendors...
(syrups are ok because they are boiled).
