Singapore obviously cannot use Chinese as the main language as it is a truly multi ethnic society unlike HK.
And HK had the similar transition from poor to rich under British rule. With the same freedom as in the UK in the same period.
Is the english speaking country where the industry revolution started a role model for colonies and other countries?
