Philippines has total of only 479 kms, only around 80 kms is in service, mainly around Metro Manila.
Indonesia has total of 7,777.40 kms network size, in which 5,564 kms is in sercive. Jakarta's commuter line alone is 418 kms long.
Wait India has 121,407 kilometres (75,439 mi) of total track over a 67,368-kilometre (41,861 mi) route. But does that make India richer than Indonesia? Lets just assume that railway system is a great option to travel a especially to avoid traffics. But there are still other transportation option, right? Also it would have been great if those miles and miles of tracks available were like Japan or Shinkansen level instead of a Timbuktu quality.
Did I say so? But yeah in many aspects it is richer imo.

Did he ever say that? Indonesia is richer of course, having better railway system is just one factor. Higher GDP percapita, better overall infrastructures, better safety, lower murder rate, lower poverty, lower inequality, etc etc are other factors
Combined with TransJakarta BRT network of around 230 kms, plus the MRT and LRT project that will be finished this year, I hope Jakarta can ease its traffic.
Sometimes, I feel sad though for Filipinos living outside NCR. The gap between MM, Cebu and other secondary cities is just too huge. Davao, CDO is okayish, not much to say. While in Indonesia, trains, BRTs, elevated roads, as well as nice airports are quite common in our secondary cities outside Jakarta, most of the provincial capitals' airports even provide international flights.

There are direct flights from here to Manila, Cebu, Clark, Iloilo, Davao, and Boracay. Those six all have international airports, in other words. I think there might be a few others, as well...but those are just the ones I know of.
Philippines' typical malls are usually huge and stretch horizontally. And they are too basic for my taste.
Indonesia's malls are smaller, go vertically, more stylish and modern. And Jakarta has lots of them (173 as of 2014), maybe it's 190s now.
But pretty useless to discuss who has better malls? Since, I'm not a crazy mall person myself, it cringes me.

Although both HDI and GNI(nominal) per capita Philippines is still ahead, sweetheart. How would you explain that? That Indonesia is only richer in papers but on actual standard of living and on ground level Philippines is still slightly well off? Say what now?
Why would we be jealous? Philippines has almost everything Indonesia has except Bali (but you dont have Palawan, Boracay, Batanes and Baguio too)
