Don't think anyone on this board can beat this. In attendance for National Day 2. What a change. From a third world country to an economic powerhouse. Give some respect to the Pioneer Generation for number 52.

Anybody here can give me a good summary of what it's like living in Singapore?

I am attracted to this island nation as English is the first language and I've heard that it's really really clean over there.

How much is the cost of living compared to the US?

I just have Singapore in the back of my mind in case I may relocate in the near future.

Living in the US is not as cracked up as it's made to be.

well, Singapore is clean.. But if you are the kind of American that cannot tolerate lack of freedom of speech, please forget about it..

Accommodation at a normal Condominium unit is expect to be abt $3200 per mth, normal Japanese car cost $120K .. including 10 yr COE, expect to pay abt $400 per myth for petrol..

If you are willing to eat at hawker centre or food court, each meal would be abt $7-9 .. If you can only eat at mid to high end restaurants, budget at $30 per meal..

but they were only able to do it with a "managed" democracy. Luckily they had a very smart leader like turkey had Ata turk. However, you never know what could happen in the future. Look at turkey now.
