What makes the Grand Palace boring? How do you define grand? Its not nearly as large as the Forbidden City in Beijing, but of the two I found the architectural style of the GP more alluring, not that I didn't enjoy my visit to the FC.
Agreed. The Grand Palace is terrific. Beautiful architecture with lots of variation across the site. Oddly enough, I've read that some foreign backpackers are skipping it now because it "costs too much" (500 baht which is currently equivalent to $15.00 US). I'll never understand people who will spend large amounts of money to get to a foreign destination only to act like cheapskates when they are there.
Thailand, the most exotic? I beg to differ. I suggest Mongolia. And just think; you'll never have to worry about being swept away by a tsunami in Mongolia.
Nepal is actually more exotic than Bhutan, because it not only has Buddhist monasteries and monuments, it has Hindu stuff going on, as well. People probably think Bhutan is more exotic, because it limits tourism, so it's harder to get there. And Bhutan makes an effort to preserve its traditions.

Exotic ? More like erotic. At any given moment there are probably 10s of thousands of your fellow westerners in Thailand.
I would say Burma is probably the most exotic.
