While FAST did join SETI last year, it’s primary goal is not to find life. One of their primary objectives is the study of pulsars. But, when the are studying a star, they can research many things at the same time. The data they receive can tell us a basic composition of the star and whether or not there is/was advanced life. Radio telescopes won’t tell us if a planet is habitable or if there is non advanced life.
