I wonder what kind of plans the Indonesian government may be making considering the high density of it. The population of Java is about 150 million, in an area of 138,793.6 km2. By the way, Indonesia is the 4th most populous country in the world! As of 2020 it has about 270 million people.

Quote:
With a combined population of 145 million in the 2015 census (including Madura's 3.7 million), which is estimated for 2014 at 143.1 million (including 3.7 million for Madura), Java is the most populous island in the world and is home to 57% of Indonesia's population. At over 1,100 people per km² in 2014, it is also one of the most densely populated parts of the world, on par with Bangladesh. Every region of the island has numerous volcanoes, with the people left to share the remaining flatter land. Because of this, many coasts are heavily populated and cities ring around the valleys surrounding volcanic peaks.

The population growth rate more than doubled in economically depressed Central Java in the latest 2010–2015 period vs 2000–2010, indicative of migration or other issues; there were significant volcanic eruptions during the earlier period. Approximately 45% of the population of Indonesia is ethnically Javanese, while Sundanese make a large portion of Java's population as well.

The western third of the island (West Java, Banten, and DKI Jakarta) has an even higher population density, of nearly 1,500 per square kilometer and accounts for the lion's share of the population growth of Java. It is home to three metropolitan areas, Greater Jakarta (with outlying areas of Greater Serang and Greater Sukabumi), Greater Bandung, and Greater Cirebon.

That's why Indonesia is moving the capital to more sparce Kalimantan, they should've done it decades ago. Problem is Java have always been the most developed and populated throughout history, it attracts people from other islands. Moving the capital is not only "abandon ship" Jakarta, but also to change the traffic of migration to Kalimantan.

Indonesia is actually huge and doesn't lack land. They tried to move people around from Java to other less populated islands. But this move is seen as Javanese trying to dominate other ethnic group and people die in clashes... so the government gradually reduce the effort.

They are already promoting Birth Control, Java already have one of the lowest birth rate in the archipelago. This despite in Java they believed that having more children = blessing.

As noted, this isn't a new program - transmigrasi has been going on for many decades, even before independence.

Besides the problems with how the indigenous people perceive the influx of Javanese migrants as threatening in terms of political, social and economic influences, there's also the environmental impacts to consider - such as deforestation.

Being the Indonesian island with the most people, it doesn't get the most foreign tourists unlike Bali.
Drinking and gambling being illegal or not popular is a main reason. Bali is too different from other parts of Indonesia, with many drunk tourists.

I agree that I must immediately move the capital to Kalimantan because Jakarta is no longer worthy of being the capital city, our country must need new land that is far from problems like the one in Jakarta
Seeing the design of the new capital, it seems that there are lots of green spaces even the layout of the building is very organized and equipped with excellent facilities and infrastructure
