If I do not need to import does that mean that vehicles with SRs were actually ordered by customers in the Philippines?

I rarely ever opened the glass even here in the states, except during our summer, but I also never closed the inner shade. Car felt much roomier with daylight streaming in from all angles.

My internet view of dealers in the Philippines might be slightly biased in that I am searching from another country(my case the U.S.). So I am probably not seeing all that are for sale, or all the dealers. Is that a reasonable assumption?

Just checked out philmotors website. Out of over 5,500 used vehicles listed, less than 100 have a sun or moonroof. Prospects are not good in this country!

Vehicles with sunroofs are sold in the Philippines. I believe they're the same model offered in other countries that they did not bother to change to a no sunroof variant as they don't sell that many units anyway. That probably also explains why Toyota, being the most popular make in the Philippines, does not sell any model with sunroofs.

Why not buy a brand new one? Most vehicles I have seen with sunroofs are less than 2 years old, so there aren't that many used cars with sunroofs available for sale. Variants with sunroofs tend to be the higher end ones, but that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. I believe, as of now, the cheapest brand new one available in the Philippines with the sunroof is Volkswagen Jetta. I believe the reason they have sunroofs is because they're being diverted to other markets due to the diesel scandal.

We're talking 3-5 years away, so just getting my feelers out there. And my wife is a huge Toyota fan. So it might be a Rav4 or Highlander equivalent. She's had a 2005 Corolla here in the states since forever(hers no sunroof of course!), and will be hard to convince to go with a non-Japanese brand. Pretty sad state of affairs in the Philippines: Even most of the BMWs or Mercedes there don't have sunroofs. WT ?! By the way the Toyota situation here in America is the polar opposite: EVERY new Toyota, from pickup to coupe, Seqoiua to Corolla, sells with sunroofs.

I wish sunroofs would shake the 'high-end' stigma, as here in the States nearly every new vehicle, domestic or import, irrespective of type, is sold with one. Even cheapo Cruzes, Corollas, and Focuses. Perhaps the situation will change by the time we are settled back in her homeland. Sunroofs are a comfort and convenience to me, not a showoff. I am not a fan of so called panoramic roofs, ironically: too many cases of the 'rickety-rickets' with those, lol!

As far as buying new? I doubt it, but we will have to import the type of vehicle we want if it is to have sunroof. Or buy an older model, which handles better, and have a roof put in. Our plan is basically wing and a prayer.
