Indeed, diving towards the kids takes 6 hours, in the other direction 5 hours as the water flow helps a bit when leaving the cave.

There were reports the kids could hear farm animals, possibly sounds traveling down openings in the ground. Could someone deploy a drone with lidar to see through the vegetation and possibly find those openings while ongoing rescue efforts continue?

I'm not sure there are any farm animals outside on the mountain itself. The surroundings of the mountain is pretty much a thick jungle. There have been teams of people on the mountain looking for possible openings that lead into the cave. A number have already been discovered, but it's uncertain how deep they go or if they would lead a way to where the kids are located. At a guess, the "sounds" the kids heard might be a phantom effect from being trapped in a dark cave with no easy way out. The decreased levels of oxygen might also contribute to the mind playing tricks. The mind can play all sorts of tricks under such stressful conditions.

That's probably how cave art came about.

Since the oxygen levels diminished a lot, I doubt there is any opening. So, when the cave is water and airtight, I doubt any sounds could have come in from outside.

Oops, seems that was wrong news, only 4 are out by now...

They said the water level has decreased by about a foot, which helps a lot as rescue workers can now do the first section of the way without diving.

I'm thinking the soccer coach is going to have a lot explaining to do once this whole business is finished.

Not sure the coach is guilty of anything.

Anyway, 8 are out now, 4 kids and the coach are yet to be rescued, probably tomorrow.

I read that the Aussie doc who went into the case to assess the boys' health conditions decided to let the weak ones to come out first, which makes sense in several aspects. If that is the case, the remaining ones are stronger and should survive the whole thing and come out safely even if the rescue has to be postponed due to unexpected situations.

Safe to say that the worst is in the past and am truly amazed by what humans could do and have done so far...
