I have had a Thai lady tell me 3000 to her family, as dowry, and she will love me forever. But, have heard numerous stories of foreigners asking for monthly salary of 3000. One of the reasons my last relationship lasted four years was because both parents are deceased, lol.

The thing you have to realize about this show is that it is highly scripted. There is a story line created by the producer and a dialogue coach on set for each episode. The series is mostly fiction and bears little resemblance to reality. It's entertaining but mostly untrue.

That is interesting. Where did you read that?

It makes sense though, as the situational setup of these things is absolutely ridiculous!

About a year ago one of the couples from season 3 sued TLC for defamation of character. This was the 58 year old guy who married the 19 year old Filipina. The case was dismissed on the basis of the contract the couple agreed to and signed. The contract and the suit became public info.

The contract in part permitted TLC to fictionalize and even subject the the couple to public humiliation. The pay was only $1,000 per episode but only for the husband who was an American citizen. The Filipina received nothing as she was not a citizen or holder of a green card and not legally able to accept payment for work in the US.

Crazy! Interesting though! That makes sense, some of the situations are crazy. Basically the 'worst case scenario' for most of them. But, I suppose that is what makes good TV.

You mean Nikki and Mark. What a match! This season version of that is the 52 you woman from Georgia and the 30 yo from Nigeria.

Annie and the guy from Thailand who lives off people is of course made up.

We felt so bad for Nikkk and you clearly saw that she married to get out of the Philippines. My wife is a Cebuana like her and she was passed at how she acted. Overall we love watching the show after we recorded it so we can skip.the commercials.
