just imagine if it struck after midnight? and the epicenter is just a couple of miles offshore. everybody fast asleep and no time to react, run for higher place

such earthquake and tsunami struck the Moro Gulf in 1976. this is just north of the Sulawesi earthquake.

thank you for sharing. no wonder we in Indonesia are used to earthquakes or tsunamis

From what I hear it was a low lying area and the 20ft tidal wave spread destruction over a large area. Who's helping them? Is the US Navy there? Anyone else?
