So depressing.

How Caste Still Rules in India

Mr. Sardar is a Dalit, a class of Indians who are not just considered lower caste, but technically outcaste — what used to be called untouchable. Bound at the bottom of India’s Hindu society for centuries, the Dalit population, now estimated at more than 300 million, has been abused for as long as anyone can remember.

Funny, in college I knew a girl from Mumbai who thought that castes were long abolished in her home country. It seems that there are certain urban elite who aren't entirely aware about longstanding customs that still exist even in their own backyard.

This is the single biggest thing holding India back. The worse part is that there is a significant portion of the population that supports it.

the biggest thing holding india back is leadership, infrastructure, education to the masses, jihadi terrorism, the red dragon to the north, pseudo-secularists, and bible thumpers.

caste isn't really in the cities. more in the villages. Its also used as a propaganda tool by bible thumpers and bedouin followers to spread their ideology to the educated, suffering masses.

I'd add poor policing to that list. Hopefully, that man's attackers get jail time. Something tells me that most of the posters in this thread don't really care about that man and just wanted an opportunity to engage in smug moralism.

There is still another caste system, rigidly enforced by every country in the world except Svalbard. Very few people break the global caste barrier, which takes luck, money, and years of waiting to get your cast changed from what was assigned at birth. Your caste is printed on the cover of your passport.

Who would have guessed, in 1940, that the most welcome guests in the world would ever come from Japan and Germany?

let him be. His people no longer fly the flag of garuda and have forgotten the pagan ways. His people are serviles of king phillip II of spain, serviles of the ways of the bedoin, communists, and followers of an ideology in italy that rapes little kids and hates sodomites. Their food also sucks. They eat aborted chicken fetuses. The only thing they have left is eskrima. Soon his nation will be paying tribute to the communists in China.
