My pick is Japan, of course. Maybe since I'm half-Japanese and am familiar with the language and culture, plus I'm living there now. I also think it's a beautiful country with a lot to see and do. I like other Asian countries as well, to visit. Singapore and Hong Kong are nice, and there are a few others I would like to visit someday.

I think you should remove Russia from the list. Russia is of course unique and very large. However, Russia is essentially European - culturally and historically. Furthermore, the ethnic Russians are a European folk. It is even more clear now there is no Soviet Union left.

Why Thailand ... because it's a country that has been blessed with a friendly, beautiful, warm people, fantastic weather, fresh and plentiful (and spicy) food, pristine white-sand beaches with clear blue waters, endless verdant mountains and fields, an incredible world-class metropolis, affordability, and an inherrent spirituality that pervades the people and the landscape.

The mid-east is Asia and I see no countries listed.
Anyway, I like the country of Cyprus which is indeed also part of Asia.
It's climate and beaches and culture make it an ideal vacation spot.

That is a questionable case. I have never heard a European refer to Cyprus as Asian, unless you mean the ethnically Turkish element which is also questionable. The Middle Eastern countries are not homogenous and as they are populated by mostly Europeoid (Caucasoid) people with very different culture and belief systems than that of East Asians, I think it is good to distinguish them.

I should note that in the UK Asian is often meant to mean South Asian (Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis), because of colonilisation and immigration.

Geographically, Asia stretches from Asia Minor (west Turkey), Cyprus, Russia east of the Urals and far east as the islands near the Date Line.
