What is the point of this post?

To show how evil Middle Eastern/Muslim people are?

The religious group in the area condemned the killing as a "
barbaric act, against Islam, against humanity and against civilized culture."

I don't know what their feeling on the fact that she was married off at 9 was. (ok, not ok)

I know many, many Pakistani people, and none of them knows anyone who was married off at 9, or was the victim of an honor killing. This is a tragedy and not commonplace.

I suggest someone read the full story before commenting. There doesn't seem to be a point to this topic beyond an attempt at sensationalism.

Well Pakistan is not the middle east, its south asia for one. And the topic of the thread is "middle east" so to say that a crime in a south asian country is now acceptable all over middle east is akin to a european saying compounds with multiple wives are acceptable in all of north america (us, canada, mexico) because he saw it on TV on a news article about a commune in Nicaragua (not north america) ... so I do not see the point of the thread. Perhaps its trying to say the standard muslims are bad people with low morals.. which I object to....

If you don't agree with his/her post don't read it and comment on it. Freedom of speech. Unlike censor happy CityData.

It's not a case of agreeing or disagreeing with a poster.

But it would be wise to keep in mind that the freedom of speech you speak of stops where bringing into question someone else's reputation begins.

If you remember that then perhaps you won't find that City Data is (in your words) "censor happy".

These kind of stories can be found anywhere. Sure, I also think it should be condemned. One can give examples of a lot of backward religious groups in USA, and they are all Christian. After all, some minorities with customs considered strange even several centuries ago emigrated from Europe to America.
