Imagine those who served in Nam would have some similiar stories...printable and unprintable,

Japan has done some very cruel things. They have a reputation for being cruel by many other Asian countries.

But that's all over 50 years ago. Time to get over it. The average 20 or 30 year old Japanese person is totally removed from all that and that was a lifetime ago to them.

Also the USA has been equally as cruel. But this is mostly the actions of the government and the military, not the average person.

Anyway, when I think of Japan I think of neon lights, tall buildings, strange food and fashion, expensive living, intense porno movies, and well educated people.

I'm living in Asia now. I love it.

Being stationed at a Army tent city on the slopes of Mt Fuji 1951.

Seeing the sun hit the snow covered tip of Mt Fuji while we below were still in darkness.

Riding in a boat on Lake Yaminaka next to the town of Yaminaka.

Driving my jeep to Yokohama on official Army business.

Visiting Tokyo and seeing the Imperial Palace.

Visiting Supreme HDQTRS in Tokyo.

Riding the bullet train of the time period which was a forerunner to todays train.

Remember visiting the home of a former Japanese soldier...him showing me Army (pictures) photos ...no different then those of my time during training.

Seeing the black bombed out former machine shop or assembly plant for the Kamakazie air plane.

There were three plants/strip for the mfg and final assembly of the planes that were then flown to the base where I was first stationed...( called Camp Whittington). I slept in the former pilots barracks.

One thing that amazed us was the vast difference in the culture and customs.

Many other things that are unprintable here.
