Iran: Men vs. women soccer game draws punishment - World Soccer - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=ap-iran-forbiddensoccer&prov=ap&type=lgns - broken link)

Just because men and women played soccer together, punishments are abound.
That is crazy.

For Iran the punishment was pretty light. 5M dollar fine. I didn't see where they chopped any heads off this time.

Even so, I still think it was a stupid thing to do.

Then don't go and live there. See how easy it was to solve your problem?

But they're coming to live where Scotslass lives...

Anyways, hopefully soon Iran can shake off the oppressive Muslim clerics they have lording over them. Deep down I believe Iran is a respectable and civil country who unfortunately have some bad men calling the shots. I wish the best for them.

Iran’s strict Islamic rules ban any physical contact between unrelated men and women, and Iranian women are even banned from attending soccer games when male teams play.
As preposterous as this is and came to our attention through public means.....I think it only scratches the surface of what preposterous things go on behind closed doors in some of these cultures. It behooves me how the free world can continue looking on and then not being willing to commit to making a change for the victims.

Oh but aren't all cultures equal? Who are we Westerners to dare criticize the negative parts of Iran's culture?

Then, why does it bother you? The Iranians are even more disgusted by the way people live in your town. What do you think they ought to do about it?

Ir YOU have a problem with they way they live, don't go there. Then it is not YOUR problem.

Most Americans are overweight and have an unmanageable credit card balance and they spend an hour or two a day in traffic jams and their marriage is on the rocks and their children are undisciplined and their empoloyer is laying people off and their home is in foreclosure. How comforting it must be to have so few problems that you can concern yourself with Iranian soccer league schedules.
