DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- A 10 million-gallon aquarium in a Dubai mall filled with hundreds of sharks cracked Thursday, sending shoppers fleeing for safety as water gushed around them.

Stores were closed and security personnel were issued life jackets after the rift was exposed in the 30-inch wall of acrylic that separates hundreds of sharks, stingrays and other sea animals from the public, The Sun reported.

The headlines say it cracked, but the actual stories explain that a joint between two acrylic panels was leaking.

IMO, that's just an accident waiting to happen... I know the idea of a big, indoor plexiglass tank with thousands of cubic pounds of water, tourists and ...sharks sounds kind of cool, but (LOL) is it really a good idea? But I guess doing crazy things is one of the ways humanity advances.
LOL I can imagine the design meeting...

I wonder who said..."hey, it would be really cool if we put it OVERHEAD."

I have a feeling there were no women in the room.

This is a Samuel Jackson movie just waiting to happen!

"Enough is ENOUGH! I have had it with these (expletive deleted) sharks in this (expletive deleted) mall!"

Can you imagine the tank bursting while Obama is visiting and his hightailing it out of there at full speed with a wall of shark- filled water nipping at his heels?

You can tell these folks aren't from Florida. We would already have been in our cars before the second drop. We don't play when it comes to a possible shark encounter.

Even a small seam damage could become a disaster with that much water pressure against it.
