Clear proof you didn't read the thread, only the title, assumed you knew the answer and regurgitated your hatred and intolerance it without thinking. Atheists don't see our knowledge of reality as a pride issue, just reality. But how typical of believers, don't think (one of the deadly sins), just regurgitate the hatred in intolerance your have been taught.

There is no hatred here, only compassion and hope. I'll pray for your soul today.
I don't think it is so much 'tongue in cheek' as it is a very likely scenario. Deities and gods were invented in the minds of men to explain things they had absolutely no explanation for.
The sun, shows up over there, cross the sky, disappears way over there. How? why? will it come back? what controls it? All without even the hint of an answer as man had zero understanding of what made the sun to move.
Logical solution for the time, invent a god that controlled the sun, a goddunit moment. Then worry worry worry, what if I make this god mad, and it withholds the sun tomorrow. I better come up with some rituals to worship this god to keep it happy............. and thus was born religion, springing from the loins of fear and ignorance.......... and so it continues today.
