All those walls and stained glass get in the way of the wider perspective.

It's easier to see what's really going on when you are outside and not running on pure emotion.

The emotion part is really true. In Oklahoma, it's a called a "Falls Creek High" because of the huge Southern Baptist youth camp located here. People come back all hyped up and "on fire" for the Lord. They will say and do the most ridiculous things at that point because their emotions are running wild. I used to be right there with them. It's sad, really, that a group of people can be so easily manipulated.

So the people that are always telling us we are going to hell don't know what the hell they are talking about?

LOL, I suspect Ashville was writing more to them than to us.

Well......most atheists are literate. we also tend to put more thought into our belief structures. Not simply accepting the dogma of others.

I have a co-worker that looked me straight in the eye the other day and told me she was sad for me because I wouldn't be taken up in the rapture, which according to her is imminent.

My family (my parents, wife, grandparents and in-laws) say I'm an anti-christ because I "lead my children astray" by teaching them to question things, including religion and don't follow or believe in their strick (LDS) religious dogma.

Laws are passed which affect everyone that are based on the religious sentiment of a few lawmakers. (abortion, gay marriage, alcohol regs, ect. Utah even has a law that says car dealerships can't be open on Sunday )

That's why it matters...

I posted this in the R and P section, seems the "who cares" is the answer for the believers.
