Personally I don't have faith, I have certainty but no story or explanation could help anyone else with that.

My afterlife would be with my soulmate in any time, any place and any of the possibly infinitive universes.

That there is one and a pleasant one.

My fantasy after-life is that their turns out to be a God and he apologizes to everyone for making such a mess of it and takes all the blame for any and all misunderstandings. Then he tells us what his intentions were and answers all our questions. In my fantasy I'm really hesitant to forgive him and start to hold a grudge but he apologizes and confesses his faults so sincerely and magnanimously that I decide to forgive him instead of reading him the riot act.

The thing is though. God didn't make a mess of it. MAN did. I'm not the most religious person in the world but God is about free will as I understand it. And only Man could eff all that up.

Believe ME, I have raged and stormed till the cows come home that he didn't heal my son. Truthfully I still don't understand it, but I'm having faith that someday I WILL.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but please give him a chance.

I'm so sorry about your son. That's why it's a fantasy. I assume this God would be one of reason,
justice, empathy and benevolence.

I lost my son this past year to Luekemia. He was only 20. I can't describe how awful it was to go through test after test only to have bad news come back. I can't describe what it was to watch him pass away.

I also can't imagine being able to go on enduring life if I didn't hold onto the possibility of being with him again. So that's what I do.

I hope with all my heart that heaven is incredibly beautiful, with oceans and gorgeous scenery and that my son is there playing with all the animals he always loved. Thats all I can hold onto. It's not always easy to keep faith like this when it's been shaken so badly, but I try.
I'am so sorry for your loss. Sometimes these bodies of ours just aren't worth a poop I tell you. I'am sure you all fought a long and hard battle and I'am certain your son was glad his family was with him every step of the way. It sounds corny to say thanks to you for being there for your son/family, I know you were only doing what you are suppose to be doing but thanks. I'am certain many have been inspired by you and yours over the last 20+ yrs.
Hang in there.

I can't believe you are saying that either, since no proselytizing is allowed in this subforum. That being said, I really am sorry that you lost your son.

I gave God more than one chance, but He refused to show any real evidence of His existence. Nonexistent Beings have a habit of doing that.

That's funny. I didn't feel I was proselytizing at all. In fact, I'm the last one in the world who would do that.

I do want to say to the above posters that I am grateful for your kind words. And you as well, Catman. I'm dealing as best as I can..you can live with a broken heart, but it sure isn't easy

Define proselytizing, used in its most broad form, it wouldnt take much to say that someone was doing it, and thus, there would be no use for this sub-forum other than for atheists to get together and talk to one another. I would define it as all out trying to convert someone and the poster was not doing that.

oh the games we play

I didn't think you were proselytizing at all. I appreciate your kindness and am so sorry for your loss. Deeply sorry.
