By the age of eighteen, Bertrand had rejected religion. (just as I did)

Absolutely. It was a delight to have the simple logical reasons set out so clearly. He saw the telegraphed (but probably unconcious) attempt to put into his mouth 'Wanted' to abandon Chrstianity', and he nicely debunked the frequently false claims about deathbed conversions.

I would say that atheism or at least the rational worldview that came with discerning the rational basis of atheism has greatly strengthened me in terms of not being confused about the way things are.

While he rejects an afterlife I might say that we might better be agnostic about it. But there is nothing to be afraid of. The idea of a God, miffed at your not believing in him consigning one to eternal torment is not worth a moment's credit.

I thought he was better than me about possible reasons why we might need religion even if it wasn't true. The bottom line is that believing untruths for whatever reason is flawed thinking and that has to be wrong.

While looking at some of these (including the fatheaded 50 second refutation of atheism and Ann Coulter's yapping idiocies) I just loved Dawkins' trashing of the 'Atheists are soulless robots' idea and I am going to post it, separately.

I've been ecstatic or blubbered happily at great music and and glad to say I have done so.
