Really...Does America NEED an atheist president? Nope.

Does America NEED a theist president? Nope.

America NEEDS a president who is qualified for the job. I don't believe that one's belief or lack of belief in a diety should be a qualifier. I would be, however, turned off by an atheist candidate who wore his or her atheism on their sleeve, or made snarky anti-God pot shots all the time, just as I was pretty turned off when the ex Governor of my own fair state prayed for rain during a drought. In both cases, it's arrogant and demeaning.
You find it arrogant and demeaning that your ex-governor (no idea who that is) prayed for rain during a drought? Why? Does it threaten your unbelief?

I personally think that a president/candidate should not be allowed to talk about their religious (or lack there of) beliefs. And it shouldnt affect their decision making but of course that would be impossible as your morals and beliefs shape the person you are.

Yeah because anyone who does not share YOUR moral grounding is going to be immoral, amoral or in some way damaging. And theists are meant to be the humble ones? Puhleese.

Given there is no evidence for a god, your morality comes from the same place everyone elses does. Yourself. The only difference between atheists and theists is that the latter feel the need to invent a powerful invisible friend they can pretend supports their stance on moral issues. The former however simply explain how and why they come to each conclusion and are open to changing those positions when a better argument comes along.

This long trotted out illusion that religion brings, gives or grounds morality is a baseless fantasy, but one I can see why is so precious to those who espouse it.

< snip excuses so you can live as you like > ......
Should we be basing the election of a U.S. President on your loose atheist standards of moral relativism then ?! We've already seen the behavioral outcome of such Presidents like Clinton excersising sexual-relativism to his favor in the Oval Office belonging to the American people . Its a shame you feel a need to vocalize opposition to simple, noble, required morality standards for a civil nation, as those listed in the Study I presented.

We dont need Heathens in the White House...we need Men and Women of high moral prowess so the Office and thus Nation doesnt suffer shame and quantified degradation results . Is this expectation a bit too 'taliban-ish' for your liking then (???)

Did I say that? No.

You should be basing the election on who is best for the job and nothing else. Atheist or theist or whatever. If you are going to vote based on nothing but whether the candidate is religious or not then you have pretty poor political motivations.

The actions of Clinton are nothing to do with theism or atheism and you know it and it is not about to troll a reaction out of me. The catholic church is all you need to look at to show that theism does not prevent sexual perversion or indiscretions.

Morality and theism are not the same things and the former is perfectly attainable without the latter and the lack of the former is perfectly attainable with even copious amounts of the latter.

Do we need an Athiest for President?

Couldn't hurt. although, if logic and common sense were to gain majority with politicians, a lot of politicians would be out of a job.

Then, the best Candidate is the One who has high moral standards and a determined desire to carry on the kind of Government and American Society that our Founding Fathers wanted and were vehemently proactive for --- a pursuer of the highest moral and ethical standards known to mankind . What Source or Entity has always proclaimed these ? Do you know ?
