You're assuming that the Creator is YOUR silly little man-made tribal god of choice, rather than not only the thousands of other Gods that have been worshipped on this planet but the countless other possibilities that you've never heard of. AND that said Creator has prepared a special afterlife for the mites living on the dust motes spread about the cosmos. AND that said Creator judges those mites by the narrow, primitive criteria spelled out in your favorite collection of ancient scrolls penned by iron age ignorants.

Bottom line? If there is an afterlife YOU have just as much to worry about as any of the rest of us..

You won't find an Atheist group with whom its members share majority similar beliefs. This will never be the case being that the religious are morally influenced by their religion thus causing the trickle down affect within their lives and social activities, lacking belief makes this impossible and yet this is the beauty of it. We truly are the most diverse group of individuals.

I understand what the OP is getting at but as someone who went to church socially when I was young I know that even those church types don't all get along or have anything in common. It can be downright miserable for some people even if they all belive in the same supernatural being. I guess I like the IDEA of what could be with a like minded group, but there really isn't anything as good as the idea itself. And if I get real desperate for that sort of thing I can always just fake it again and go sing some hymns at a christian lite church like so many people do .

We, my family, have the sarcastic, mocking, streak and it can't be used in most public setting. It can be frustrating and it can get us in trouble so we reserve it for when we get together with each other. We really don't even mean harm and sometimes even make ourselves the butt of the joke. It's just not something most people appreciate.
