Many of us who are former Christian remember that there was a type of language we used to speak. I am completely embarrassed about a lot of my Christian past, but one thing that still makes me cringe is the way I used to speak. As a black man who grew up in a predominantly black church before moving to a big city, cosmopolitan styled church, I learned to speak fluent black Christianese and white Christianese. Of course, today the line of separation are blurred and you can hear (in some circles), the same language despite the predominant makeup.

I was looking over a FB friend's page (she has been on my "friend request" list for over a year now) and I was looking at some of her posters. Here were some of the Christianese:

"The year of unlimited breakthrough."

"Prophetic fire"

"Prophecy 2012. The Issachar forecast"

"Some of have become King"dum" citizens. In church, but not living out the authority he's given us."

"The City of Covenant."

"Prophetic ACTIVATION service."

"The time of the outpouring."

"Sixth annual ADVANCED worship conference."

"Spiritual Explosion 2011 conference. Prophetic favor."

"Prophetic blast"

As you can see, [SOME] black church folks are big on "prophecy" and "power" and they LOVE titles (dr, bishop, apostle, disciple, minister, elder, missionary, evangelist...etc)

So what Christianese do you remember?
