Notorious Nigerian witch hunter Helen Ukpabio is bringing her destructive message of child demonic possession to the United States. She conducts sermons and makes "prophetic declarations" to incite hatred, intolerance and persecution of children that are alleged to be witches. Once these children are deemed witches they are tortured, abandoned and/or killed.

These are a few ways suspected witches are treated:

-Abandoned, isolated, discriminated, ostracised from the community
-Taken to the forest and slaughtered
-Disgraced publicly and murdered
-Bathed in acid
-Poisoned to death, often with a poisonous local berry (asire)
-Buried alive
-Chained and tortured in churches in order to extract confession

Ukpabio will be in Houston Texas from March 14th through the 25th spreading her hate and ignorance. I will be there along with many others to show Ukpabio that we will stand against her and any other inhumane organizations that abuse and murder innocent individuals.

How shocking. Dare I wonder if Texas has some type of curse upon it? I realize that kind of question is frowned upon in this forum. But honestly, even though I believe in "freedom of speech" isn't this kind of speech dangerous to society. Should we allow EVERYTHING to be taught? There are some forms of "freedom of expression" that I personally am against. This would be one of them. But the only power we have over evil teachings is to counter them with protests and truth.

Staise reports that the church that was bringing her has postponed the meeting. The Houston Atheists intend to take credit for it. The protest will be rescheduled if they reschedule her visit. We are watching!

I would hope this postponing is something that everyone, atheists and believers, could stand up and take credit for. No decent human being could ever support such things.

Yeah, but we planned the protest.

Were you going to physically protest her appearance? I tried to find an address for the "church" that was sponsoring her and failed. The Houston Press couldn't fine one either. All I found were links to web sites that appeared to be affiliated with her somehow.

Where was she going to be?

(I did find a NY Times article that said she appeared before a "small group" in Houston in 2010. And I found several articles on witch hunting in Africa. Very disturbing.)

We were waiting for Staise to post a location, but the *church* decided to postpone the visit. Yes, we would have been physically there to protest. We will see if she comes in May. We are watching for her. They apparently do not have a permanent building.

You can follow it here: Stand Against Helen Ukpabio - Greater Houston Skeptic Society (Houston, TX) - Meetup

It is possible that it is this church, but there does not seem to be a Church building there.
