I'm neither Christian nor Atheist. However it should be fair for Atheists to know that there are some very good Christians out there, and not to be confused with organized religion.
After Atheists wanted to sue Christians over Nativity Scenes, Christians have helped them raise money.
I've known some great devout Christians, people who seemed motivated by their beliefs.
One of them was a Reverend who taught a religious school with his wife in a poor area. It recieved no government funding, because they would teach religion...or not, or whatever beliefs the parents desired. It was fueled by the couple and by donations from the community. Payment was never required. From the knowledge of the students, it seemed to be an excellent place of learning.
The nativity scene is simply a reflection obviously of the birth of Christ (probably either September 11 3 BC or othe hebrew new year in March 3BC) at any rate it all has to do with moon cyles (lunar) or Gerogian vs Julian the dates vary. Emphasis on the "baby" Jesus is great especially in nurturing kids, it's the adult Jesus that gave us instructions for life and salvation and over doing His baby phase is a little nutty.
It's nice to see some Christians respect others and see the need to keep their religion from dominating other religions as well as people who don't believe in our government. I appreciate it. I'm sure other less dominating religions do as well. America should represent all, not the dominant.
