And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. But we must assume that all of these passages are questionable, since Falcon60 just taught us that "Anybody can say anything."

I'm not sure why my fellow atheists so often feel the need to throw in that addendum...as if they're afraid to be called bigoted for pointing out only the (current) evils associated with Islam's adherents. Christianity has an ocean of historical blood on its hands, but for the present day, no religion comes close to the fanaticism, bloodshed, and repression of human rights as Islam.

Did we really need Dawkins to point out that Islam is evil?
Did the obvious fact that it violates human rights and places no value on the sanctity of human life not evidence enough?
Human ignorance and Human selfishness breed human atrocities. Whether Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu or Communist, human greed and human fear and insecurity leads to atrocities in the name of religion (or the fatherland! HEIL!) .......Yes, there is Evil in Islam That does not mean that all practitioners or all adherants of Islam or evil, but it does mean that it fails miserably to check the human greed and breed instead an aggresive, violent selfish intent which is capitulated ultimatley with one's death. Anytime the goal of a religion is death, then that religion has the great potential for abuse.

Christians have been persecuted throughout the history.

Early Christians were stoned to death by the Romans and Jews for believe in Jesus Christ.
In 20th century, under Stalin's atheist dictatorship in Soviet Union, millions of Christians have been killed and churches being burned down.
In 21st century, many Christian minorities in parts of the Middle East are being killed, and churches destroyed

And, Christians started out by destroying Pagan Temples and killing Pagans. They killed Muslims by the thousands during the Crusades. They killed Jews and Heretics and Witches.

In 2011, Muslims in Nigeria were praying their magical end of Ramadan prayers when suddenly attacked by Christians carrying guns and machetes. But the conflict between ethnic groups is not one of only religion, itís more about control of economics and political power.

Why do you always need to bring what few Christians have done in the past?
Every time Christians says how they have been persecuted, raped, and murdered throughout the history - atheists always bring back something that there are virtually no evidence it even occurred.

So you deny the persecution of early Christians by the Romans and Jews?
You deny the persecution of Christians during WWI genocide against Christian Armenian, Assyrians, and Greeks by the Ottoman Empire?
You deny the bombing of churches and murdering Christians in parts of the Middle East, such as in Syria, Iraq?

I personally believe all religions are about power and control and thus essentially evil. They remove people's right to free thinking and shackle people with brainwashing. Islam is one of the biggest offenders and it's treatment of women in general is appalling.

I was waiting to see if anyone was able to identify the frame of reference being used when equating the term "Islam" and the term "Evil". Did I miss it? Help?

FWIW.

lol.

It wasn't their atheism that caused Stalin, Pol Pot, Hitler, et al to slay people, it was their (political) ideology. No leader to my knowledge has killed anyone in the name of Darwin!
However, you can certainly and plainly see that there is no shortage of blood flow in history caused by the 'good book' and the belief in martyrdom.
I will say this on behalf of believers though, often times, it's the zealots who steal away religion from the moderates and give it such a blood-stained image. There are also very corrupted psychopaths that believe they are doing god's will. It is the fanatics who inflict their will on the masses and urge them to do their bidding under the guise of "god's will." IMHO, it is this that makes organized religion so dangerous. Also, the disdain for rationale and REASONING required to accept this belief along with the complete waste of time and resources has been toxic for mankind and meaningful progress.
Finally, there are genuinely great and intelligent people who happen to believe in god. It's too easy to judge an entire religion by the very worst of the lot-a la bin Laden, al-qaeda to Islam. It's similar to judging and labeling a whole race by it's least favorable. So, we non-believer's shouldn't do that.
